BAPTA-TMFM [Tetramethyl 5-Formyl-5‘-Methyl Bis-(2-Aminophenoxymethylene)-N,N,N‘,N‘-Tetraacetate] is a fluorescent chelating indicator used to study the physiological role of cytosolic free Ca2+ (max. Abs. 284nm; ex 10-3: 5.1). Fluorescent calcium indicators selectively bind to calcium ions and show a spectral response upon binding Ca2+; thus, fluorescence intensity or wavelength are altered. This shift of fluorescence wavelength and change of intensity upon calcium chelation can be monitored using fluorescence microscopy. This high quality fluorescent Ca2+ chelator is useful for many intracellular applications, especially in single cells, adherent cell layers, or bulk tissues.
