C24:1 1-Deoxyceramide (m18:1(14Z)/24:1) is a very long-chain atypical ceramide containing a 1-deoxysphingosine (m18:1(14Z)) (Item No. 24515) backbone with a cis double bond at the 14-15 position rather than a trans double bond at the 4-5 position. 1-Deoxysphingolipids are formed when serine palmitoyltransferase condenses palmitoyl-CoA with alanine instead of serine during sphingolipid synthesis.1,2WARNING This product is not for human or veterinary use.
