Cladospirone bisepoxide

Cladospirone bisepoxide is a selective antibiotic commonly used as an antifungal and antimicrobial agent which inhibits the germination of Lepidium sativum and suppresses the growth of several microorganisms. It has been reported that cladospirone bisepoxide, a member of the spirobisnaphthalene family is produced by the fungus Sphaeropsidales via a common biosynthesis pathway that is used to produce other spirobisnaphthalenes. In addition, evidence suggests that cladospirone bisepoxide is derived from a polyketide precursor via polyketide synthase (PKS). Furthermore, studies show that the biosynthesis of cladospirone bisepoxide can be inhibited using tricyclazol .
