Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is mainly responsible for catalyzing the conversion of pyruvate into lactate. It is present in almost all living cells. It consists of four subunits forming a tetramer and can form five different subtypes of LDH. Their enzymatic properties are similar, but there are obvious specific differences in tissue distribution. LDH-M and LDH-H subunits are encoded by the LDHA and LDHB genes and can also be expressed as LDHA and LDHB. LDHC is the testis-specific LDH protein.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human testis. Anti-LDH-C/A antibody was used at 1/8000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
