低密度脂蛋白受体（LDL-R）是一种由839个氨基酸组成的镶嵌蛋白（去除21个氨基酸的信号肽后），介导富含胆固醇的LDL的内吞作用。它是一种识别载脂蛋白B100的细胞表面受体，载脂蛋白B100嵌入LDL颗粒的磷脂外层。该受体还识别乳糜微粒残留和极低密度脂蛋白残留中的载脂蛋白E。在人类中，LDL受体蛋白由19号染色体上的LDLR基因编码。它属于低密度脂蛋白受体基因家族。在支气管上皮细胞、肾上腺和皮质组织中表达最显著。
