Protein G Agarose is a recommended specialty reagent used for isolating immunoglobulins from mammalian species. Protein G is an IgG binding protein expressed in Streptococcal bacteria much like Protein A but with differing binding specificities. Protein G binds to the Fc region of most mammalian immunoglobulins making it a powerful tool for antibody purification. Protein G Agarose is a recombinant Protein G type 3 that is linked to a high-quality Agarose resin, CL-6B, and together makes a superior and premium product which produces high purity and purification yield of IgGs from mammalian samples.
