R-Phycoerythrin

R-Phycoerythrin (R-PE) is a fluorescent protein which may be isolated from red algae and belongs to the phycobiliprotein family of proteins. R-PE is an extremely intense fluorescent phycobiliprotein that exhibits an orange-red fluorescence. R-PE is useful as a fluorescence-based indicator for the presence of cyanobacteria and for labeling antibodies.
