Stromal cell-derived factor-1 beta is a stromal derived CXC chemokine that belong to the intercrine family, members of which activate leukocytes and are often induced by proinflammatory stimuli such as lipopolysaccharide, TNF, or IL-1. SDF-1b signals through CXCR4 receptor.
