Stearic Acid ethyl ester, a 20 carbon saturated fatty acid, is an esterified product of Stearic Acid . Treatment of cells with fatty acid ethyl esters has demonstrated the ability to induce apoptosis and interfere with the cell cycle in the G₂/M and S phases. Saturated fatty acids (SFAs), such as Stearic Acid ethyl ester, have been reported to be essential for biological activities of lipopolysaccharides. Furthermore, SFAs display the capacity to induce NFκB (nuclear factor κB) activation and Cox-2 expression.
